Quand j’ai vu le bonnet Rustling Leaves de Liesl, je me suis dis : il me le faut !!! J’ai suivit ses conseils, et je l’ai tricoté avec une laine worsted en montant moins de mailles que dans le patron qui est fait avec une laine Fingering (120 mailles au lieu de 144).
J’ai acheté le patron, et j’ai voulu tester une laine qui me faisait de l’oeil depuis longtemps : la Venezia Worsted, de Cascade Yarns.
Pour le patron, rien à dire : je me suis régalée avec le motif, c’est bien écrit et ça monte sans encombre.
Mais mon gros soucis venait de la laine… Déjà, en la tricotant, je n’étais pas satisfaite : je la trouvais molle, le fil se dédoublait et peluchait un peu. Je tiens à préciser néanmoins qu’il a fait très chaud que je l’ai tricoté, donc les bouloches viennent sûrement du fait que je transpirais des mains.
Bref ! Une fois terminé, je demande à ma tricopine Vekao de m’aider pour les photos. Grâce à son immense gentillesse, je resors avec des photos très sympa. Mais malheureusement nous nous sommes rendues compte sur les photos que le bonnet nécessitait grandement d’un blocage afin de mieux voir le motif.
Et là, ce fût le drame… Mon bonnet a doublé de volume après son bain !!! Je n’avais pas du tout pensé que la soie s’agrandit au lavage !
Résultat, je me retrouve avec un bonnet tellement grand qu’il ne tient plus sur ma tête… Je ne sais pas trop ce que je vais en faire du coup… Heureusement que nous avions fait les photos avant ça !

When I saw the hat « Rustling Leaves » of Liesl, I said: I want it! I followed her advice, and I knitted it with some worsted wool with less stitches than the pattern (120 stitches instead of 144).
I bought the pattern and a wool that I wanted to try for a long time: the Venezia Worsted, Cascade Yarns.
For the pattern, nothing to say I really enjoyed myself with it, it is well written and it’s fast.
But my big worry was the wool … When I knitted it, I was not satisfied: I found it flabby…
Well, once finished, I ask my dear friend Vekao to help me for the photoshoot. Thanks to her immense kindness, I had nice photos. Unfortunately we saw on pictures that the hat needed a blocking to see better the pattern.
And then it was the drama… My hat has doubled in size after its bath! I had not thought at all that silk expands after washing!
As a result, I end up with such a large cap that no longer fits on my head… I do not know what I’ll do with it… Fortunately we did the photos before that!

Je suis à la limite de la date pour le projet mensuel « 12 hats 1 year », comme d’habitude ! Mais j’ai une bonne excuse cette fois-ci : la canicule. En commençant ce projet, je ne pensais pas qu’il allait faire aussi chaud sur Paris ! Du coup, je dois bien l’avouer, pas envie DU TOUT de tricoter de la laine.
J’ai fini par trouver un compromis : la laine Sierra. Avec ces 80% de coton et 20% de laine, ce fut parfait pour les 33°C qu’on a eu ces derniers jours. Elle est agréable à tricoter, et surtout la couleur est magnifique : un superbe rouille. Entre la couleur et la matière, ce bonnet sera parfait pour l’automne 🙂
Et le patron, très facile à mémoriser, aucune difficulté. On s’ennuie un peu à force de répéter tout le temps le même motif mais très pratique pour regarde un film en même temps.

Today is the limit for the monthly project « 12 hats 1 year », as usual! But I have a good excuse this time: the weather. When I started the project « 12 hats 1 year », I did not think we’ll have this weather SO hot in Paris!
I finally found a compromise: the wool Sierra. With these 80% of cotton and 20% of wool, it was perfect for the 33°C we had the last few days. It is nice to knit, and the color is gorgeous: a wonderfull rust. Between the color and the yarn, this hat is perfect for fall 🙂
And the pattern, very easy to remember, no problem. It was a little bored by repeating all the time the same rows but very convenient for watching a movie at the same time.
